Lessons
Lesson 1 — Hiragana: vowels & the K-row
10 characters + your first real words (incl. えき, "station"). Interactive recall quiz.
Lesson 2 — Hiragana: the S-row
さしすせそ + why し is "shi". Read すし, さけ, しか. Quiz interleaves Lesson 1.
Lesson 3 — Hiragana: the T-row
たちつてと + the ち/つ trick sounds. Read ちかてつ (subway), たかい, くつ.
Lesson 4 — Hiragana: the N-row
なにぬねの. Read なに (what), おかね (money), にく (meat), さかな (fish).
Lesson 5 — Hiragana: the H-row
はひふへほ + ふ "fu" (last trick sound). Read はし (chopsticks), ひと, ひこうき (airplane).
Lesson 6 — Hiragana: the M-row
まみむめも + the め/ぬ look-alike. Read なまえ (name), みせ (shop), みち (street).
Lesson 7 — Hiragana: Y/R/W + ん 🎉 (complete!)
The last 11. Read にほん (Japan), えん (yen), おんせん (hot spring), よやく (reservation). All 46 done.
Lesson 8 — Survival phrases: the courtesy core
すみません, ありがとう, おねがいします + 3 more. Scenario practice: pick the right phrase.
